Rachael Taylor (Gray's Anatomy, Transformers) is the latest addition to the cast of Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones. Australian star Rachael will play Patricia 'Trish' Walker, also known as Hellcat. She joins previously confirmed cast members Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and David Tennant (Kilgrave) in the thirteen part Netflix series due for release later this year or early in 2016.
A.K.A. Jessica Jones follows a former superhero, the titular Jones, who has hung up her cape after a traumatic experience and has set herself up as a private eye in New York City, specialising in cases involving people with special powers. However her world is disrupted when a dark figure from her past reappears. Former model and child star turned radio talk show host Trish, known to her fans as 'Patsy' Walker, is Jessica Jones' closest friend and emotional anchor. She helps Jessica embark on the most dangerous case of her career.
David Tennant plays Zebediah Kilgrave, also known as The Purple Man, a supervillain who has past history with Jessica; his reappearance causes shockwaves through her world.
Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television said of the new casting, "Rachael's ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for Jessica Jones. Rachael blew us away with her grounded, humanizing take on Trish, adding yet another layer to the complex, emotional story we’re telling with this series."
The new series has been developed by Executive Producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg who says of Rachael, "The character is a star and a powerhouse, and required an
actress who is both. Rachael is all that and more!"
A.K.A. Jessica Jones is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC
Studios for Netflix.
