The second season of the acclaimed ITV drama will premiere on ABC in Australia on Sunday 15th February at 8.40pm.
David Tennant returns as Alec Hardy and Olivia Colman
reprises her role as Ellie Miller, whose life was torn apart when her husband
Joe confessed to murdering local schoolboy Danny Latimer in the seaside town.
Also back are Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan who return
as Danny’s parents Beth and Mark Latimer; Arthur Darvill as the Reverend Paul
Coates; Carolyn Pickles as newspaper editor Maggie Radcliffe, and Australia’s
Simone McAulley as publican Becca Fisher.
New faces include Emmy-nominated film and television
actress Charlotte Rampling and Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee
Marianne Jean-Baptiste. They will be joined by James D’Arcy (Hitchcock), Eve
Myles (Little Dorritt, Torchwood) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Bad Education).
James Strong returns as part of a directing team that also includes
Australian award-winning directors Jessica Hobbs (The Slap) and Jonathan
Teplitzky (The Railway Man). The series was created and written by Chris
Chibnall and the narrative picks up following the shattering events of the
first series.
Another new series premieres the same night on ABC directly after Broadchurch featuring another former Doctor Who star: the twelve part thriller Fortitude stars Christopher Eccleston.
