AUDIO CLIP: David Tennant Interviewed On BBC Radio Four Front Row

David Tennant appeared on the BBC Radio Four arts review programme Front Row earlier this evening to talk about the second series of Broadchurch which begins on ITV tonight. David returns as Alec Hardy, alongside Olivia Colman as Ellie Miller in the much anticipated follow-up to the BATFA award winning drama that had over 9 million viewers gripped when it aited in the UK in 2013.

The plot of the new series is a closely guarded secret, so David wasn't able to give very much away.

"It's a very difficult show to promote," he said. "It's on absolute lockdown!"

However he could speak to presenter John Wilson about what viewers could expect from the new story, about his surprise that the original series became such a big hit and about his experience of re-creating the role for the US version Gracepoint. He also revealed that the series begins exactly where it left off with Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller broken and not knowing what they will be doing next.

Broadchurch returns tonight on ITV from 9pm GMT.
