March 2014
With the shoot of Gracepoint
well underway on Vancouver Island, Ali Selim was the latest to sign on as a director. Fox TV issued a first official media release including the key art of David
Tennant and Anna Gunn standing on the clifftop.
David spoke to Worldscreen about appearing in both Gracepoint
and Broadchurch. The article also
included some new photos.
W1A
David narrated W1A, a four part BBC comedy from the makers of Twenty
Twelve staring Hugh Bonneville and Jessica Hynes, following ongoing career
of Ian Fletcher in his new role at the BBC. The BBC also posted preview clips.
Broadchurch
The cover for the official novel was revealed - the book was due to be published in August. The series premiered on Puls 4 in
Austria and on Giallo in Italy, and it was released on DVD in France.
Jodie Whittaker claimed that David would be returning for
series 2 while Radio Times claimed a source at ITV had said the same. ITV, the Broadchurch production team and David himself all maintained their silence.
Broadchurch won Best Serial Drama and Olivia Colman won Best
Actor – Female at the RTS Awards. The series also won Best Drama Series at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.
Olivia Colman was named Best Actress and Chris Chibnall Best Writer. David was
nominated for Best Actor but didn’t win.
Richard II
It was confirmed that Richard II would be released on DVD
and Blu-ray by the RSC in May. Distributors Opus Arte released a preview clip.
Games
The makers of Doctor Who Legacy invited readers of this site
to choose the next Tenth Doctor character outfit for the game.
David provided a voiceover for the Xbox game Kinect Sports
Rivals. The makers posted a behind-the-scenes video.
TV
David appeared on the documentary How To Get Ahead, which covered Richard II’s court. David’s interview was recorded while he was playing the role for the RSC.
BBC America released a trailer for The Real History Of Science Fiction,
their new series co-produced with BBC Two, to which David contributed.
The Escape Artist premiered on SBS in Australia and on VOX
in Germany this month. The series was released on DVD in Australia, Germany and
Scandinavia.
New Australian Channel BBC First announced that The Politician’s Husband would make up
part of their launch week schedule.
Charity
Late in 2013, David visited Sierra Leone for Sport Relief.
His diary of his visit featured in Radio Times. David appeared in a number of clips on the live Sport Relief show on 21st
March: watch them here.
Audiobooks
Hodder Children’s Books released a clip of David reading
from the newly recorded How To Steal A
Dragon’s Sword.
