David Tennant Review Of 2014: FEBRUARY



Welcome to our second look back through our news archives for 2014. Today’s post revisits what David Tennant was doing during the month of February.

February 2014


Gracepoint
The shoot of the 10-part remake of Broadchurch continued on Vancouver Island with David playing Emmett Carver, an American counterpart to the UK’s Alec Hardy. Further additions to the cast were announced: Adam Greydon Reid took on the role of psychic Raymond Connelly and Patrick Gilmore played family liaison officer Pete Lawson. There was a last minute cast change as Georgina Rylance left the production and the role of Gemma Fisher was given to Sarah-Jane Potts. The first official set picture of David with co-star Anna Gunn was released (see above). David was also photographed filming scenes outside the Police Station set: view them here and here. David was interviewed on set by Entertainment Weekly to explain why he had chosen to take on the role in the remake.
David Petrarca was announced as one of the team of directors. The first two episodes of the drama were recorded by mid-February

Broadchurch
Broadchurch had its French premiere on France 2 during February and reached 7 million viewers. The series also premiered on French language channel ICI Radio Canada and continued in South Africa and Ireland.
The series scooped more awards at the 2014 Broadcast Awards, winning the Best Drama Series or Serial and Best International Sales categories. Actor Adam James hinted at a possible Broadchurch return for David when he revealed that he would be interested in a part. It was confirmed that Ólafur Arnalds would compose the score for the new series. 

Postman Pat: The Movie


The first trailer was released for Postman Pat: The Movie starring David Tennant, Stephen Mangan and Rupert Grint. The trailer gave a first look at David’s as then unidentified character

Theatre
Digital Theatre hosted a worldwide digital watchalong of the 2011 production of Much Ado About Nothing to celebrate Valentine’s Day

Charity


David Tennant appeared in a short video for Scottish charity Circle to explain why he supported their work with disadvantaged families.
David was one of a number of celebrities wishing Davina McCall good luck in her Beyond Breaking Point BT Sport Relief Challenge. David filmed his contribution during his own Sport Relief trip to Sierra Leone
David narrated a new advert to promote the Dogs Trust
