Broadchurch Series 1 & 2 Soundtrack By Ólafur Arnalds Released In January

Mercury Classics have announced that they are to release a full soundtrack album of musical highlights from the Ólafur Arnalds scores from both series 1 and 2 of the award winning ITV drama Broadchurch

For many, the haunting ethereal soundtrack was a much a star of the drama as the powerful cast and the beautiful West Country land and seascapes with Televisual, the site of the TV production industry saying, "The soundtrack was as big as the Broadchurch landscape… and as melancholic as its tragedy and hidden secrets." Arnalds was approached directly by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall himself who, as a fan already, knew that the Icelandic composer's sparse and ambient style would fit perfectly with his vision for the show. Arnalds won much deserved BAFTA Craft and Bulldog awards for his work on the first series and it was only fitting that he should be invited back to contribute his magic once again for the second. He has composed five hours of new music to compliment the new episodes.

The release of the new soundtrack album will coincide with the much anticipated arrival of the second series which begins on ITV in the UK on Monday 5th January. Music from both series will be available together for the first time and will also include a new song 'So Far' sung by Arnór Dan, vocalist on the beautiful track 'So Close' which closed each season one episode.

The album release date is to be announced.

In addition, Ólafur Arnalds has announced that he will be touring performances of the Broadchurch soundtrack to major venues in February. The tour also includes a visit to Bridport, the town that inspired the fictional Broadchurch. Click here to check tour dates and buy tickets.
