The cast listing for the first episode of series 2 of Broadchurch has confirmed some more returning cast members and revealed more details about new additions. The listing, for the first episode airing in early January, has been published online on the Radio Times website.
A new cast addition is Adjoa Andoh, who will be familiar to Doctor Who fans as Francine Jones, the mother of Martha. Adjoa is a well-regarded actor from TV, film and stage, with appearances in the BBC's Casualty, Noel Clarke's movie Adulthood and the RSC's production of Julius Caesar. Her character in Broadchurch is listed as Julie.
Among the familiar faces returning for the new series are Simone McAullay, the Australian actress who plays Becca Fisher, owner of a struggling hotel in the small seaside resort. When last seen Becca, who had an affair with Mark Latimer (Andrew Buchan) in the first series, seemed to be growing close to town priest Paul Coates (Athur Darvill). Simone had hinted that she would return, though this was never officially confirmed.
Also returning is Adam Wilson who plays Tom Miller. Tom, the son of Ellie (Olivia Colman) had just learned the devastating news about his father Joe (Matthew Gravelle) and will now have to experience the town's reaction to the revelations.
The listing also confirms that Joe Sims (plumber's mate Nige Carter) and Tanya Franks (Ellie's sister, Lucy Stevens) will be back for series 2.
Broadchurch starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman returns to ITV on Monday 5th January at 9pm BST.
