The powerful BBC drama United, recounting the real-life events surrounding the 1958 Munich air crash, will air on UK channel Drama from Saturday 13th December.
David Tennant plays Jimmy Murphy, the legendary Manchester United coach, who was forced to take charge of the football club after a plane crash on the return trip from a European fixture killed and injured many of the players and staff. Jack O'Connell (Skins, Starred Up) plays his young protege Bobby Charlton, with Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II) as Matt Busby and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) as Duncan Edwards. United was written by Chris Chibnall and directed by James Strong, the team that went on to reunite with David Tennant and create the award winning Broadchurch and its American remake Gracepoint. The drama which originally aired in April 2011 draws on first-hand interviews with the survivors and their families to tell the inspirational story of a team and community overcoming terrible tragedy.
