David Tennant Praises His Sister's Work In School Visit

David Tennant spent Monday on a visit to Craigmarloch School in Port Glasgow, a school for children with additional support needs. His older sister Karen Clark is a teacher at the brand new state-of-the-art campus and Craigmarloch's pupils were keen to show off the classes and facilities to their surprise visitor.

David had plenty of praise for the work that Karen does at the school, and was happy to drop in after she asked him. "I always do what my big sister tells me to," he joked.“It’s great to visit this wonderful new school as I've always admired what my sister does. She’s always so passionate and motivated about the school so I’m very happy to do a little bit to encourage the pupils."

He also enjoyed spending time with the students. "It has been great to meet them as they are a very enthusiastic bunch. The school looks great," he said.

Karen added that she hoped that David's visit would have a big impact on the children, many of whom are dedicated to Doctor Who, particularly those with autistic spectrum conditions.

"They know every single fact about the show," she said. "Doctor Who is such an inspiration to them."

An interview with David and Karen recorded at the school on Monday will be aired on Inverclyde Radio this afternoon at 4.20pm GMT: listen in live here.
