There's still no official confirmation from ITV (at least, at the time of writing) on UK broadcast details for Gracepoint, the US remake of Broadchurch by Fox, but arts site The List have already tapped the show as a TV highlight for this autumn.
Gracepoint stars David Tennant, once again playing the lead investigator into the murder of a young boy in a coastal town. However, the familiar plot and characters are transported to California with David's American detective now renamed Emmett Carver. Anna Gunn takes on the role of his put-upon deputy Ellie Miller and other cast members include Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Sarah-Jane Potts, Kevin Zegers and Michael Peña. Chris Chibnall, original series creator, is on board as a writer and executive producer, while both Broadchurch directors James Strong and Euros Lyn take charge of episodes. The producers of Gracepoint and various cast members, including David, have assured viewers that the plot will deviate from that of Broadchurch after the first few episodes and the ending will be completely different.
Although The List suggest that Gracepoint will air some time this Autumn, ITV have yet to confirm which of their channels will carry the show and announce a start date.
Other autumn TV highlights include new Russell T. Davies dramas Cucumber and Banana and the second series of Toast Of London (C4) and another new Fox TV offering, Gotham (Five).
