Today’s Throwback Thursday selection is a selection of
photos from the Radio Times Covers Party 2010.
The untelevised private event is held early every year to
celebrate the famous faces who have appeared on the cover of the iconic TV
listings magazine the previous year. During the evening the stars are each presented
with a framed copy of their own cover. David, who had just completed his run as
the Tenth Doctor, attended the party to collect the four covers on which he
appeared in 2009, for Doctor Who and Comic Relief. The magazine’s TV editor Alison Graham said she found
him, “...as irrepressible and funny as ever.”
David received a bit of good-natured teasing from other
attendees about the number of awards he collected. On the night, however, comic
David Walliams remarked that it was moving to see David receiving, as everyone
then thought, what would be his last ever cover for Doctor Who. Of course he subsequently
returned to the role in 2013 for the 50th Anniversary special.
Other attendees included Rob Brydon, James Corden, Ruth
Jones, Terry Wogan and the kids from Outnumbered.
