Icelandic composer and musician Ólafur Arnalds has confirmed that he has begun work on the score for the second series of Broadchurch. The first phase of the composition process was a meeting with series creator Chris Chibnall and director James Strong.
He posted to his Facebook page “The first score meeting for Broadchurch 2 took place in London
yesterday. Exciting times!”
Haunting and atmospheric, Ólafur’s award winning score to
the first series was as much a star of the drama as were the ensemble cast and
striking West Country landscapes. Fans were delighted earlier this year to learn
that he would be returning to contribute to series 2.
Broadchurch 2 is
currently filming in various locations around the south west and south east of
England. Returning cast including David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Jodie
Whittaker, Arthur Darvill and Andrew Buchan are joined by newcomers Eve Myles,
James D’Arcy. Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Charlotte Rampling. The series is expected to air on ITV early in
2015.
