It's official! Everyone's favourite crossbow-toting, dog-stealing plumber's mate is returning to Broadchurch for series two.
Of course we all had our suspicions when actor Joe Sims was spotted on set in Clevedon and Exeter, but today Joe has officially announced his return via the Bristol Post. The local actor, hailing from Kingswood on the east side of the city, has been filming the acclaimed drama since May.
Joe reveals that, like the award-winning first series, the actors are once again in the dark about the outcome of series two.
"We only get two episodes per script so I don't know
how things are going to pan out,” he revealed. “It's a case of, if you need to
know something for your character, you know it.
"In the first series we were all looking at each other
until towards the end, thinking 'did you do it?' I never even knew 'whodunnit'
until I read the scripts for episodes seven and eight. It was brilliant."
However, he was able to say that Chris Chibnall, the series creator, has delivered a storyline as enthralling as the first
"Series two is a must see," he said. "The
audience can expect some shockers and a lot of twists and turns. "Chris does a fantastic job of keeping so many balls in
the air and there is so much that you don't expect."
Returning alongside Joe for series two of Broadchurch are David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Andrew Buchan, Jodie Whittaker, Arthur Darvill, Jonathan Bailey and Carolyn Pickles. New additions to the cast include Charlotte Rampling, Eve Myles, James D'Arcy, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Currently shooting in various locations in Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Berkshire, production will continue until October. A broadcast date has not been officially announced but the series is expected to begin on ITV early in 2015.
