Radio Times have spoken to David Tennant following his overall win in the 2014 TV Champion contest.
Launched last month, the tournament pitted 128 of the UK's finest actors, presenters and TV personalities against one another to see who would be voted by fans as the most popular of all. The response by the public was overwhelming: over 9 million votes were cast in all across the seven rounds, with nearly 3 million of those in the final showdown between David and Benedict Cumberbatch.
David eventually won out by 200,000 votes.
"I was thrilled! Absolutely delighted!" David
said, in response to the news about his win. "Wow, how many votes were there? That's ridiculous. Nine million
votes!"
"That's very lovely," he added. "But
don't tell Benedict, whatever you do. Let's just keep that between us – you, me
and the nine million..."
David Tennant will next be seen in the BBC Films comedy What We Did On Our Holiday, released in the UK on 26th September, and in Gracepoint, the American remake of Broadchurch which premieres on Fox in the USA on 2nd October. He is currently filming the second series of Broadchurch in the West Country, expected to air early in 2015.
