CANADA: Gracepoint To Air In Global Network's Fall 2014-15 Lineup

At the Shaw Media Canadian TV Upfronts earlier today it was announced that the new FOX TV limited series Gracepoint would air as part of the Fall 2014-15 line up on the Global Network. The series was filmed in Canada, with the Greater Victoria area of Vancouver Island doubling during the four month shoot as a sleepy Californian coastal community which is rocked by a shocking crime.

The American remake of the multi-award winning ITV drama Broadchurch, which shares a star with the original series in David Tennant, will premi√®re on Thursday nights at 9pm ET. Another star of the show, Canadian actor Kevin Zegers was on hand today to promote the series. Kevin said that he was impressed with David Tennant's American accent in Gracepoint ("It was great!"), and also reassured viewers that despite similarities with Broadchurch the cast is 'diametrically different' to the original.

ET Canada Say:

Described as a 10-episode "mystery event series," 'Gracepoint' is an Americanized remake of British phenomenon 'Broadchurch', widely regarded as one of television's most compelling mystery series. What makes 'Gracepoint' unique among remakes is thatstar David Tennant — who played a disgraced police detective charged with solving a brutal murder in a bucolic seaside town — plays pretty much the same role in 'Gracepoint' that he did in 'Broadchurch', albeit with an American accent instead of his native Scots brogue. In 'Gracepoint', Tennant's detective teams up with a local cop (Anna Gunn of 'Breaking Bad') to investigate the murder of a young boy. The first-rate cast also includes Oscar nominees Jacki Weaver ('Silver Linings Playbook'), Nick Nolte ('Warrior'), and Kevin Zegers.

Gracepoint is one of eight new dramas coming to Global this season; others include Stalker, Constantine and Madam Secretary. “Global is Canada’s drama destination,” said Barbara Williams, senior vice president of content at Shaw Media. “Packing in political intrigue, mystery and star-power, our network’s eight new dramas feel right at home in the schedule.”
