Gracepoint, the Fox TV remake of Broadchurch, is featured in Entertainment Weekly's list of Pilot Season Trends for Fall 2014 with a new photo featuring stars David Tennant and Anna Gunn.
The 10-part event series is closely adapted from the original UK series with David reprising the role of the lead detective charged with solving the murder of a young boy in a sleepy seaside community. Original series creator Chris Chibnall has written the pilot episode and is executive producing while Broadchurch director James Strong will be working on multiple episodes.
Gracepoint features among some hotly anticipated crime dramas according to Entertainment Weekly who say:
IN - Small-town cop shows: Even before HBO’s True Detective turned
heads, this trend was in the works: More intimate small-town portraits, less
flashy urban chaos. Aside from Fox’s series-ordered Broadchurch remake Gracepoint (pic
above), ABC has the Sea of Fire pilot, starring Jennifer Carpenter as
an FBI agent investigating a murder surrounding a teen porn video, while CBS’s
mismatched rural Michigan cops drama Battle Creek starring Janet
McTeer and Kal Penn is one of the season’s buzziest projects, thanks to creator
Vince Gilligan (who’s just coming off of Breaking Bad.)
Entertainment Weekly anticipate a big year also for spin-offs, movie remakes and zombies while fairytales, vampires and big laws shows could be on their way out, they say.
Gracepoint starring David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Nick Nolte, Sarah-Jane Potts and Kevin Zegers is currently shooting on Vancouver Island, British Columbia and is due to air on Fox as part of the 2014 - 15 season.
