David Tennant will be one of many celebrities making a contribution to the Sport Relief TV extravaganza which airs from 7pm GMT on BBC One and BBC Two tonight. Although unable to appear on the live show this year due to filming commitments, David will appear in a harrowing appeal video that will be shown during the course of the show.
David made a trip to Sierra Leone late last year to see for himself why the campaign is needed and how the money raised by Sport Relief can go to changing people's lives. He witnessed families and even children as young as ten who spend their days sifting through the rubbish on a dump to find things to sell on to make enough money to live on. He also visited the YMCA Kissy Primary School, set up to support children living in poverty and learnt about the way that Sport Relief promotes and supports healthcare in the region.

The Sport Relief appeal show sees familiar faces from the worlds of sport, entertainment and music joining forces for an evening that aims to raise as much money as possible for good causes in the UK and abroad. This year's show comes live from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
