Shooting Starts On Gracepoint Today

Shooting is due to start on David Tennant's new TV series Gracepoint today.

Set in an American town, Gracepoint follows the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face from where he might have fallen. Although the cause of his death remains unsolved, the picturesque seaside town where the tragedy occurred is at the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy. The ten-part event series for Fox is an adaptation of the award-winning ITV series Broadchurch, created by Doctor Who writer Chris Chibnall and also starring David Tennant. David will be reprising his role as lead investigator, though the gruff Scots DI Alec Hardy will become an American detective called Emmett Carver. The cast includes Anna Gunn as Ellie Miller, Jacki Weaver as Susan Wright and Nick Nolte as Jack Reinhold.

Chris Chibnall is writing the first episode of the ten-part drama and will be executive producing. Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein (In Treatment) are on board as executive producers and showrunners. The show will also be executive produced by John Goldwyn (Dexter), Shine America's Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone from drama producer Kudos. Original Broadchurch director James Strong has signed on to work on multiple episodes.

Gracepoint will be shot in various locations around the Greater Victoria area of Vancouver Island, BC, including Oak Bay Village, the Saanich Peninsula and the Sidney Waterfront. Production is due to continue until late May with the series premiere as part of Fox's 2014-15 season.
