SWEDEN : Synopsis And Trailer For The Escape Artist - Airing Next Week On TV4

The three-part drama The Escape Artist starring David Tennant has its premiere on TV4 in Sweden next week. The channel have now released a summary and trailer for the BBC miniseries which also stars Ashley Jensen, Sophie Okonedo and Toby Kebbell.

David Tennant tillbaka i TV4 med The Escape Artist

David Tennant back on TV4 with The Escape Artist

David Tennant , fresh from his success in Broadchurch, returns to TV4 in December in the new psychological thriller The Escape Artist. The three-part miniseries had an acclaimed premiere on BBC One in October, and now comes to TV4, starting Tuesday, December 17th at 21.00.

“It was obvious that TV4 should pick up The Escape Artist. It feels right to end this year's run of purchased series with this well-made and tightly written series. And as David Tennant, who had his breakthrough for TV4 viewers in the autumn hit Broadchurch, is starring in the lead role of this exciting miniseries, of course that was also an important factor,” says Helena Forsman, Program Purchases TV4 Group.

The series begins in a courtroom where the young defence lawyer Will Burton is assigned a new case. Will ranks as England's top defence attorney and his amazing ability to get their clients released has given him the nickname "The Escape Artist". Will’s successful and happy life, however, takes a macabre turn. His client Liam Foyle is accused of the brutal murder of a young woman but gets released. Will has done his job as a lawyer - but now has Foyle as an enemy. Of the deadly variety.

The premiere on BBC One on Tuesday, October 29 drew a full 5 million UK viewers, 3 million more than the nearest competitor. The series is created and written David Wolstencroft (Spooks, Shooting Dogs) and directed by Brian Welsh (Black Mirror, In Our Name, Mayday).

The Escape Artist airs from 17th to 19th December at 21:00 on TV4.
