Gracepoint Casting: Michael Peña Joins As Mark

Gangster Squad and American Hustle actor Michael Peña has joined the cast of Gracepoint as plumber Mark Lasseter, the father of murdered schoolboy Danny.

The  ten episode US remake of  Broadchurch stars David Tennant as Detective Emmett Carver, the investigator in charge of uncovering the murder of young Danny in a sleepy Californian Coastal town. The series will be executive produced and part written by Chris Chibnall, the creator of ITV's Broadchurch.

Mark Lasseter is a well known and well liked character around the small town of Broadchurch.  A family man, he is devastated by the death of his son, but his wife Beth (Virginia Kull) suspects that he may be hiding something about that fatal evening.

Michael Peña joins an impressive ensemble cast: as well as David Tennant and Virginia Kull the production also boasts Anna Gunn (Ellie Miller), Jacki Weaver (Susan Wright), Kevin Zegers (Owen Burke) and Kevin Rankin (Paul Coates). Broadchurch director James Strong is attached to helm multiple episodes, while Jane Featherstone (Kudos), Carolyn Bernstein (Shine America), Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein will also be executive producing.

The Fox event series goes into production in late January and is expected to premiere as part of the 2014-15 season
