Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor Smashes BBC iPlayer Record



The Day Of The Doctor has set a new record for BBC iPlayer requests in the 24 hours following its broadcast on 23rd November. The Doctor Who 50th anniversary special was requested 1.27 million times on the BBC catch up service. The previous record was held by the BBC One coverage of the London Olympic Games opening ceremony, which was requested just over 1 million times. 

The show was watched by a consolidated total of 12.8m viewers in the seven days from the original broadcast, up from the overnight figure of 10.2m. It was requested a total of 2.9m times on iPlayer.

The Day Of The Doctor starring Matt Smith, David Tennant, John Hurt, Billie Piper and Jenna Coleman was released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK today.
