Richard II - First Preview: Twitter Reaction

It was the first night of previews for David Tennant's Richard II at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon last night. Reviews won't come in until Press Night on 17th October - which is the play's official opening night - so until then we're taking a quick look at the Twitter reaction to the first preview.

From the audience:

: Greg Doran's Richard II is, as expected, exceptional. Lucid and thrilling with Tennant an absolute joy.

: The first performance of Richard II was exhilarating. David Tennant was electrifying. Greg Doran works his magic again.

: The set is amazing and the stage is lower. Why couldn't it have been that height for the summer season.

: Richard II was amazing! David Tennant was phenomenal!

: RII good so far. Great set. Nigel Lindsay superb as is OFD. David Tennant conveying Richard's weak character well.

: I've seen a few productions of RII but this is by far the clearest and most compelling so far.

: epic fantastic and believable. David portrayed the character of Richard with passion logic and pure talent xx

Richard II runs at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon until 16th November it will then transfer to the Barbican in London on 9th December.
