More Awards For Broadchurch: Four Wins At The Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards



There were more awards wins for the Broadchurch team tonight at the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards which were announced this evening at London's Grosvenor Park Hotel. The programme and cast scooped an amazing four of the Dagger Awards in total. 


The Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards celebrate the very best of British and international crime fiction and drama. Tonight's ceremony was hosted by Bradley Walsh and saw awards presented for Best UK and International Crime Series, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Film, alongside prestigious Crime Writers’ Association awards including Gold Dagger for the Best Crime Novel of the Year, and the New Blood Dagger for the Best New Crime Writer of the Year.

Broadchurch, created by Chris Chibnall and produced for ITV by Kudos, won the TV Dagger Award, seeing off stiff competition from Luther, Top Of The Lake, The Fall and Bletchley Circle

David Tennant won the Best Actor Dagger for his role as DI Alec Hardy in the eight part ITV drama in a category that included Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Paddy Considine and Jason Isaacs

Andrew Buchan won the Best Supporting Actor Dagger; however his fellow cast members Jodie Whittaker and Pauline Quire were not so lucky, both losing out in the Best Supporting Actress category to Amelia Bullmore (Scott And Bailey).

Olivia Colman won Best Actress dagger for her performance as DS Ellie Miller, beating Sophie Grabol, Claire Danes, Lesley Sharp and Gillian Anderson.

The awards will be televised on ITV3 on the 27th October at 9pm.
