Learners Repeated On Drama In The UK Today

The 2007 romantic comedy Learners starring David Tennant, Jessica Hynes, Sarah Hadland and Shaun Dingwall will have a welcome repeat today, showing on the UK channel Drama. Learners was written by Jessica Hynes, who guest starred with David Tennant and Freema Agyeman in the Doctor Who two-parter Human Nature / The Family Of Blood. When David cheekily asked her if there was a part for him, she knew that he would be perfect as geeky driving instructor Chris.

This warm, bitter–sweet comedy drama, follows the trials and tribulations of a group of learner drivers.

Bev (Jessica Hynes) is a downtrodden wife who's failed her driving test eight times. She's desperate to pass yet frustrated at her husband Ian's (Shaun Dingwall) impatient approach when teaching her to drive.

When Bev meets glamorous driving school owner Fiona (Sarah Hadland), she's determined to succeed, along with a group of other learner drivers.

Chris (David Tennant), a devout Christian with the patience of a saint, is assigned as her instructor and it's not long before Bev develops a crush on him. However, Chris has feelings for Fiona, but she's having an affair with a married man Gerry, who works with Bev.

Watch Learners on Drama (Freeview Channel 20, Sky Channel 166, Virgin Channel 190) tonight at 10pm BST. There is also an early hours repeat at 2.50am on Saturday 7th.
