In the week following the announcement of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, eBay report that online purchases of Doctor Who related merchandise soared, with double the usual amount sold.
But while vendors reported an 80% increase in sales of Matt Smith products, it was David Tennant's Tenth Doctor who notched up the greatest number of memorabilia deals. Matt ranked in second place, followed by Tom Baker, then William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton
Steven Heywood of eBay said “Fans have been flocking to the site following the announcement of the new Doctor and with over 84,000 Doctor Who related live listings, eBay.co.uk offers fans the perfect platform to get their hands on unique and bespoke pieces of memorabilia.”
