Though it pains us to think that summer might be turning the corner it's a fact that Christmas will be upon us before we realise. However, the lovely folks at Entertainment One have got something in the pipeline to give us all a warm glow during that chilly season. They've packed up Debbie Isitt's two hilarious Christmas films, Nativity! starring Martin Freeman, and Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger starring David Tennant, into one fun-packed box set, so you can enjoy the misadventures of Mr.Poppy and the children of St. Bernadette's Primary School over and over again.
Nativity!
Seasonal, semi-improvised British comedy starring Martin
Freeman and Ashley Jensen. Shabby, under-achieving primary school teacher Mr
Maddens (Freeman) works at a school that competes annually with a local private
school for the best production of the Christmas nativity play. Tired of always
playing second fiddle to his arch rival, Gordon Shakespeare (Jason Watkins),
Maddens idly concocts a white lie centred around his ex-girlfriend, Hollywood
producer Jennifer (Jensen), in which he boasts that she is coming to see his
play with a view to turning it into a film. What he omits to mention is that he
and she have not spoken to one another for years. Now, with the expectations
and burning ambitions of parents, pupils and madcap teaching assistant Mr.Poppy (Marc Wootton) running high, can he possibly turn
his elaborate fiction into reality in time to make everyone's Christmas wishes
come true?
Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger!
David Tennant stars in Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger as an
anxious teacher who starts a new job at an under-achieving school and
quickly finds himself struggling to cope with a wild classroom assistant (Marc Wootton as Mr.Poppy), a
group of under-performing kids and his own very pregnant wife (Joanna Page). He soon becomes
embroiled in a madcap plan to enter a National ‘Song for Christmas’ Competition
and finds himself embarking on a disastrous road trip in search of the
competition venue – the ‘Christmas
Castle ’. Lost in the
wilderness with a class of small children, a baby and a donkey, he has to stand
up, face his fears and try to lead them not only to safety, but victory.
Nativity 2 is part action adventure, part musical and has all the comedy,
warmth and heart that audiences love.
The Region 2 DVD and Blu-ray sets will be released in the UK and Europe on Monday 11th November
