Billie Piper has spoken about returning to the role of Rose
Tyler for the Doctor Who 50th Anniverary Special in an interview for
Red Carpet News TV.
Talking at the press
night event at Trafalgar Studios for The
Hot House starring John Simm and Simon Russell Beale she didn't give much
away about the episode, but was clearly thrilled to be involved.
“I don’t know how much I'm allowed to talk about it…I don’t
know if I'm allowed to say anything!” she said, coyly, "It's like going home.
It's a real gift, you know, that is a gift, that show. And obviously it's a
special one because it's the 50 years celebration. You feel it's very much for
the fans, and you really feel that on this particular episode."
Billie joins Matt Smith and David Tennant for the celebratory
episode along with Jenna-Louise Coleman, Jemma Redgrave, John Hurt, Joanna Page
and Ingrid Oliver. Billie has previously worked with both David and Matt
before, and said of them:
“I really love working with them as actors but I also know
them as people. They are both very different and brilliant people and full of
life and character…well, they’re friends, so it’s quite weird talking about
them in this way. We’re mates, they’re brilliant!”
She couldn't, however, shed any light on what makes Rose
Tyler such a popular companion in Doctor
Who and why she keeps returning to the role, “I don’t know what it is about
Rose Tyler! I don’t know how to answer that question!”

Filming on the 50th Anniversary Special wrapped last week. The 3D episode is expected to screen on BBC One on Saturday 23rd November.
