The Pirates! Scoops RTS West Award For Best Film

The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists picked up the Best Film award at the West of England RTS Awards this evening. The animated feature from Bristol based Aardman Animations features the vocal talents of Hugh Grant, David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Brian Blessed and Martin Freeman among a star-studded cast list.

It was a good night overall for Aardman as they also picked up the Media Effectiveness award for their Nike 'Take Control' advert while Gavin Strange, senior designer for Aardman (@JamFactory on Twitter), celebrated being part of the team that created online games for the CBBC series Andy's Wild Adventures, winner of the Best Companion Content award

The West of England RTS Awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Bristol Old Vic.

Aardman will be waiting anxiously for news from Hollywood tonight as The Pirates! is also nominated for an Oscar in the Animated Feature Film category.

EDIT: Sadly The Pirates! lost out to Pixar's Brave for the Animated Feature Film Oscar
