Good news for UK David Tennant fans - 2021 keeps on looking better already with news that both series of Staged will be released on DVD on Monday 15th February.

Staged is the brainchild of writer and director Simon Evans and producer Phin Glynn and was created during the first UK lockdown in spring 2020 as creatives looked for ways to keep working within the restrictions. The innovative comedy is based on the premised that Good Omens co-stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen (playing exaggerated versions of themselves) were due to star in a production of Six Characters in Search of an Author in the West End. The pandemic has put paid to that, but their director (Evans - also playing himself) is determined not to let the opportunity pass him by. He knows how big a chance this is for him and turns his attention to cajoling his stars into rehearsing over the internet.
Filmed using Zoom and remote technologies, Staged follows the attempts of the cast and director to tackle at least the first scene of the play while navigating a multitude of oppositional forces: distraction, boredom, home-schooling and their own egos.
Staged also stars Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg, the real life partners of David and Michael, with Nina Sosanya and Lucy Eaton, with several surprise guest appearances. It is an Infinity Hill/GCB Films production for BBC One. The producers are Phin Glynn, Victor Glynn and Georgia Tennant, with David Tennant and Michael Sheen as executive producers.
Series 2 of Staged is due to launch on BBC One on 4th January, and follows the cast as the lockdown eases and they start to re-engage with the world of work outside their homes. The new eight-part series sees the addition of Ben Schwartz to the cast as David and Michael's American agent and promises more surprise cameos.
