David Tennant's Animated Feature Ferdinand Nominated in Tonight's 2018 Oscars
Tonight sees the winners of the 2018 Oscars announced, and Ferdinand, the enchanting kids' movie about a gentle hearted bull, has been shortlisted in the Animated Feature category. Directed by Carlos Saldanha for 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios, the voice cast includes John Cena as Ferdinand and David Tennant as Angus. The movie was released worldwide in autumn 2017.
Ferdinand tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover. The heartwarming comedy adventure has an all-star cast; alongside David and John are Kate McKinnon, Sally Phillips, Gina Rodriguez and Anthony Anderson.
The other nominations in the Animated Features category are The Boss Baby, The Breadwinner, Coco and Loving Vincent.
On January 7th, Ferdinand narrowly lost out on an animated feature Golden Globe to the Disney Pixar movie Coco.
The Academy Awards ceremony is hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The event will be broadcast live on ABC.
